A Day in BRAY

A Day in BRAY

“I am longing to be with you, and by the sea, where we can talk together freely and build our castles in the air.”
— Bram Stoker

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, yet don’t want to trek too far, Bray is your best bet. Pick a day you both have off from work, leave the car at home and get the dart out, and enjoy the scenic coastal view along the way. Why not start off with a coffee or an ice cream, whichever tickles your taste spuds, to give you both the energy to tackle the day ahead. Gino’s  is just facing the seafront on the promenade. The most difficult challenge you’ll face is which delicious flavour to choose.

Once you’ve both attempted to devour your ice creams without making awkward eye contact with anyone, or dripped all over yourself, start strolling up towards Bray Head. Don’t force yourself to make it to the top if you’re not exactly the most athletic. Your date won’t be too impressed to see the sight of you profusely sweating and gasping for breath. Not the biggest of turn ons..

Take a breather and enjoy the beautiful view before coming back down. If you’ve made it back down alive, after pretending you didn’t have an excruciating stitch the entire way, you’ll probably have built up quite an appetite. Stroll back in the direction you came from and you’ll find a fantastic gastro bar Butler & Barry  right beside Gino’s.

You may need to make a reservation and I’d highly recommend you try sit in a window seat to make the most of the spectacular ocean view. If neither of you are in a rush to head home just yet, stick around for a few cocktails.
