“No matter what, no matter who, no matter when, any man has a chance to sweep any woman off her feet. He just needs the right broom.”

– Hitch

That goes for you too ladies ! For those of you who are coming to the Ukiyo x Dating Dublin – Singles Social Night (Sponsored by Ketel One Botanical) you may be a little bit nervous and trying something new that’s out of your comfort zone. Here are a few tips to follow which help you succesfully get through the evening.

Make sure you dress to impress, you could very well be meeting the potential love of your life. What you wear will speak to them before you even open your mouth. You can never be overdressed.

Maybe not your full self from the get go, that might scare them off, but embrace your attributes. If you’re funny be funny. If you’re flirty be flirty. They’ll see right through your façade if you try to present a fake persona just to try to impress them.  If they don’t like you as you are, then they’re not the right one for you.

This one is for the lads especially ! For the few brief minutes you get to talk to your date, don’t go on and on talking about yourself. Women love to talk about themselves, so just shut up and listen to what they have to say. Although, don’t just nod and smile and glance at her boobs, give all of your attention to her. Listen & Respond. Otherwise you’ll start daydreaming about her and have nothing to good to respond with when she finishes talking.

Avoid questions that will have a yes or no reply eg. Do you ? Are you ? They tend to be very boring and monotonous. If you’re not the most natural of conversationalist I’d highly recommend sticking to the “5 W’s”, What, Who, Where, When & Why. The advantage of starting the majority of your questions with one of these is that your date will give you longer, more explanitory answers. Which will make the conversation flow naturally.

Just take it on the chin. Don’t make a scene over it. It’s part of the whole dating game, there’ll be plenty more people at the event for you to go for.

Just don’t. For the sake of your own diginty, leave your cringey chat up lines to try out on Tinder.

The most important thing is to enjoy yourself. Don’t think of it as a chure. The more you enjoy yourself, the more positive energy you emit. Which will inturn attract more people to you.
