FREE DUMPLING DEMO WITH KWANGHI CHAN
If by chance you are a lover of dumplings then consider this a very good time to wander down to South King Street (off Grafton Street) on Saturday 16 of February between 12pm – 3pm to savour some Irish Pork and Scallion Dumplings prepared by Hong-Kong born Chef Kwanghi Chan.
On the final weekend of the Chinese New Year festivities, Dublin Chinese New Year Festival in partnership with DublinTown and kind support of the Bord Bia Quality Mark, are delighted to demo how you can bring luck into your home by learning how to make your very own pork & scallion dumplings.
With a history of more than 1,800 years, dumplings (饺子 Jiǎozi /jyaoww-dzrr/) are a classic Chinese food, and a traditional dish eaten on Chinese New Year’s Eve, widely popular in China, especially in North China. The crescent-shaped Jiaozi is a symbol of wealth and prosperity because of their resemblance to ancient Chinese money (silver ingots). Legend has it that the more dumplings you eat during the New Year celebrations, the more money you can make in the New Year.
Only the Bord Bia Quality Mark means that food has been produced to the highest Bord Bia quality standards and you know where it comes from. This is because it is independently checked at every stage. So by looking food with the Quality Mark when shopping, you can rest assured that it will look after you and your family.
