Dublin Chinese New Year Festival 2020

DCNYF is a programme of the City Arts Office, part of the Culture, Community & Recreation Department of Dublin City Council (Chief Executive Owen P. Keegan, Assistant Chief Executive Richard Shakespeare). The work of the Arts Office is made possible by the support of the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Paul McAuliffe, and the members of Dublin City Council.

Established in 2008, the Dublin Chinese New Year Festival (DCNYF) year-on-year celebrates, promotes and deepens the understanding of the Sino/Irish relationship.  The 2020 programme celebrates The Year of the Rat and marks the 13th year of this internationally recognised festival. With Chinese New Year’s Day falling on Saturday 25th of January 2020, the festival plans to deliver a high profile cultural and celebratory programme to mark this significant date in the Chinese Calendar. Dublin will also continue to build on its twinning agreement with Beijing signed in 2011 and Dublin Airport Authority twinning with Beijing Airport established in 2013.

Artisan Food Market

Artisan Food Market

We’re delighted to have teamed up with a number of unique Irish food producers to showcase the Taste of Ireland with a one day artisan food market. Enjoy fresh fish and oysters, boutique wines, mouth-watering cheeses, delectable cakes and sweet treats, gluten free produce, freshly made goods and a whole lot more in our stunning, tree lined street garden.

Our kitchen use local Irish suppliers who are second to none in their approach to delivering the best sustainable ingredients for the chefs to work with and guests to enjoy. Our dishes revolve around great ingredients which are showcased in the fantastic, seasonal menus created by our executive chef Stephen Gibson and his kitchen team. Whether it’s the fresh Dooncastle Oysters, the succulent John Stone rib of beef or the sourdough, baked every morning by Michael Roth and his team, Café en Seine take pride in creating food that is honest, ethical and most importantly, delicious.

We want to put food to the forefront and showcase some of the suppliers they work with all year around and give smaller producers a platform by introducing them to the customers that visit the venue all year round. At the Artisan Food Market, customers can pop in and meet the makers, taste what our island is producing and learn how to support our own food economy between 12-6pm.

Some of the producers confirmed so far include Wild About, Corleggy Cheese, Kish Fish, Boutique Wines with much more to be announced.

This event is part of Taste the Island
